Herd Instinct started as an app for exactly one farm: mine. I built it because I was standing in the yards trying to remember whether the black steer had already had his drench, and whether the withholding on the heifers had run out before Thursday's sale. The notebook was in the ute. The ute was up the hill. It was raining.
Why it looks like this
Everything in here had to survive a real day in the yards before it made the cut. That's why treatments are recorded products-first, then animals — because that's the order they actually happen in when stock is coming up the race and you've got one hand free. It's why it works with no signal, because the yards have no signal. It's why nothing is ever deleted, because "archive, don't delete" is what an audit trail means.
It's also why there's no pasture mapping, no weight analytics and no feed budgeting. There are good apps that do all that, and they cost more, and they're built for operations much larger than mine. This one does the records. That's the whole job.
What I'm not
I'm not a compliance consultant and this isn't advice. The app helps you keep the records and shows you the dates, but the registered product label always prevails, and your obligations are yours. I've tried to make that clear everywhere it matters rather than burying it.
